I think Florida has tried that, don't think the results have came down from the court over it yet. I personally don't know why it ended up in court, I'm all for it.

I agree 100% Missouri is supposed to start doing drug tests on welfare recipients soon.

I like the idea but I'm sure it will never happen.

What I don't understand is how in the he-- can the courts rule that it's perfectly fine to test a high school student but for someone living on my dime it is not.

I would pay extra $ in taxes if I knew it would go 100% to this kind of testing and would result in the stop payment to those who do not test clean. You would also never be eligible again once you test positive.

Most of you are right wing abolish all welfare kinda guys. I would EXPECT you guys to think it's a good idea.

I'm much more left leaning and STILL THINK THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE, AND HOW IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ALONG.

If you REALLY need the help-And there ARE PEOPLE THAT DO, you sure as hell can't afford any kind of drug habit or abuse.

In fact, I think not only should you be tested, but if found positive, should be forced to pay at least a portion back that you have received in the past.

Agree 100%. There should also be restrictions on what kind of food they can buy with their little card. You can buy a lot more chuck steak and sirloin with a dollar than you can rib eye and filet.

Re: if you work or have worked for a living how ca ... (KLAKE)

Me personally, I had to worry about being randomly dole tested and hoping the bagel I ate that morning didn't have poppy seeds to poppy oil on it so I didn't open myself up for a world of hurt. There is no reason for someone who relies on working taxpayers funds that provides them with their food to be obtaining anything "extra" such as drugs, smokes, alcohol...becuase if they find the money to do those things, they certainly don't need the gov't/tax payer help.

if you think the system is how it should be, you really need to look at the corruption going on. I saw it first hand going to jobs in the projects. Many of these people worked their asses off and lived the right way but still there were more than enough who recieved gov't controlled apartments, WIC, food stamps, healthcare etc and abused the system. There is no reason that as a cop, when I walk through the parking lot of a gov't controlled/ rent controlled complex, I should see more BMW's and Mercedes than I would at a car dealers lot. There is no reason when I go into an apratment that these same people have 6 kids and no food in their refridgerator, have a mouthful of gold, nail and hair that was just done and 6 inches of gold chains. And then they don't like the outcome of our experience and thave the nerve to tell me they pay my salary.....lol. The system is broke, its not just the welfare system it is everything our fukked up gov't has touched with its greedy hands.
    Question everything!

Re: if you work or have worked for a living how ca ... (wvbassmaster)

I think it would be a good idea to drug test people on welfare. I never had an issue with it when I was working, but then again I didn`t have a cause to worry about being tested.
