    Question Champion 181 Trolling Motor Foot Control Well

    Has anyone put a Trolling Motor Foot Control Well in the front deck of there 181. I have a 2001 Champion 181 and would like install a well, can anyone help me?

    I've done it. It's not hard. The most time consuming part is pulling all of the insulation out once you've made your cut.

    Something to keep in mid , after the cut is made and the plug is pulled out I suggest you vacuum as much down in there as you can before going any further. Ya don't want that getting filtered down to the bilge where it may cause pump clogging issues .

    I installed one this spring based on this thread - http://www.bbcboards.net/champion-bo...181-champ.html.

    I'd consider using fiberglass resin to seal the fresh cut wood too.

    Installed one in my 181 about a month ago. Cover your carpet before you cut, clean up good and seal the cuts with 2 or 3 coats of resin. There will probably be about 1 cubic foot of foam which cuts easy with a drywall knife. But most of all, take your time.

    I did mine this spring. Piece of cake. As JP said the hardest part is pulling out all the foam insulation. Your back will thank you.
