    Question 1989 365v Ranger Setup

Just bought a mint 1989 ranger 365v with merc 150. Current prop is high 5 and only getting low 50's there is no jackplate. Do I need a plate and what is best prop for this boat. Hoping to get it closer to 60mph.

Had an 1985 373v it ran 54mph on transom(omc),jack plate got it to 59mph,it was longer and heavier slightly than yours, and about an 6-8 in plate make sure all wiring cables are long enough to reach.23-24P FOUR BLADE
WITH A HIGH FIVE 100 YARDS AFTER GETTING UP ITS TOPPED OR MAXED,BUT GREAT PROP FOR FISHING FLATS
any 3 blade or 4 that you can get up with lazer to trophy. In theory it will when setback with a decent prop run tad over 60.Prop for handling not top end only.
It also helps to post stats like as in rpms to get mph,if that high five is at limiter a jp wont help it for a longer engine life prop mid range or in rpm power band.

my 364V ran 63-65 with a 26 pitch laser 2 on a 6 inch manual jackplate 5700 rpm. I am now running same hull with a new Pro xs and getting 66 with a tempest plus 25 pitch 5700 rpm on smartcraft.
