I liked the reading the stories of everyones first fish... I hope it got you all thinking and remembering that feeling that took all of us... now to another one
I have caught 2 at nine pounds so my first was at Stick Marsh farm 13 in March 8 or nine years ago... I was fishing a Terminator natural spinner bait .. I didnt even realize I had her!!!... when she broke surface it was chaos on the boat ....she came to the boat and then went under and broke surface on the other side. I pushed my rod into the water to keep some of the tenxion off of the rod... she was pulling hard..my brother grabbed the trolling motor and lifted it out of the way and my sister in law grabbed the net.... we thought for sure we had our first 10!!! always a bridesmaid.. Stick marsh has been pretty good to us...if you have never fished it... its worth the trip....

I was fishing my local mud hole in Feb. with water temps at 42. Spinner thrown into a small pocket in the bank and tap tap tap. Set the hook on a 6-11oz. Dropped it in the well and the next cast same exact spot not 30 seconds later pulled a 5-4oz. Best bass day so far.

I was working as an officer at the local prison and they allowed us to fish the old quarry pond out behind it. This pond is deep and FULL of moss. I'd caught tons of bass from here and knew there were some monsters in it. I went one evening and had my Terminator spinnerbait just about stop along the bank. Needless to say I reeled in my pb at 8lb 13oz. The kicker was that there was a bigger bass swimming around it as I pulled it in. I left the job 3 months later and haven't fished the pond since. Oh, my pb crappie came from this pond too and it was 3lb 4oz!

I caught my largest at a private lake in Mendenhall, MS. I was working a huge bass on a bed and finally gave up after about 45 minutes. On the first cast I made after turning away from the one on the bed, I felt a light tap and set the hook on one that weighed 10 pounds 10 oz. She had already dropped her eggs and the skin of her stomach was hanging loose.

My wife and I were fishing a spring BBC Rally on Lake of the Ozarks. We worked around our first point, I was throwing a 3/4oz Terminator s/bait. She weighed 7.12 and was BB at the tx.

My biggest bass was a few years ago. It was a misserable rainy day. However watching all the sparkly boats (I owned a little tinny) fly by my house (I lived on the water) was enough to get me out there. The Renegade TX was on here so there were more people out than usual. However one of my favorite spots was untouched.
I managed to somehow land a 7.2 smally. I was pumped. I remember watching all the sparkly boats again wizz past me shaking their heads as if to say I was wasting my time and didn't know what I was doing. Biggest fish that day I heard was just over 5 lbs by Izumi's kid? Sadly I was alone and had no one to share with.

I have many pictures of big bass, so I'll post a picture of my best tournament catch from back in the mid "70's" on East Lake Toho. Back in those days most tournaments were 10 fish weights per person; just like the big tournaments of the time. Thirty-five plus years ago E. Lake was a clear lake with beautiful sandy bottom, reeds, kiss. grass, a little hydrilla and no peppergrass or other weed problems. Not so today! The tourney was a 50 boat max. tournament and I was fortunate to win that day with some very nice bass. Today, the lake doesn't have the reputation it had 30+ years ago.

It's interesting how many of us seem to have caught our personal best on Terminator spinnerbaits. Mine came from Lake Carr, here in Tallahassee, on Labor Day 2008. She weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces.



She was so big I couldn't fit all of her in the picture.

Pre fishing for a tourney on Lake Malone in KY in February. Had already found some nice 2.5-3lb fish stacked on a point so I moved on into the cove just a bit. Throwing a Lee Sisson skinny P crankbait. The rod loaded up and I thought "little better fish". She broke the surface and it was on. When I got her up to the boat and lipped her, she was quite a bit bigger than the 8 lber I caught the year before. Found a friend of mine with some scales and she weighed 9.51 lbs. Took her pic and slid her right back where I caught her.

Back in the mid 70's early 80's in a borrow pit alongside I-4 between Tampa and Orlando I caught a 14.1 on a black Jelly Worm.

A few years later I got an 11.2 in the same pit on a Bagley Small Fry crankbait,

Over the years I got at least 50 over 9 in that pit. Not bragging here, this is Central Florida and it was 30 years ago.

Unfortunately someone dumped thousands of old battery casing in some small ditches that lead into the pit. KILLED IT GRAVEYARD DEAD ! It became a Superfund Cleanup site.

In recent years the biggest was 13.5 on a 12 inch worm. Ironically I have caught at least one fish over 9 in the exact same spot every year for the last 9 years. It's a small lake that nobody has ever heard of (and won't from me).

I usually shy away from the larger well known areas as the pressure is intense. I do spend a lot of time searching small out of the way spots and fish out of a small boat.

Don't fish for bass except in the cooler months as the Snook and small Tarpon keep calling me in the warmer months.

My largest bass was caught on April 7 1995 on Clear Lake Ca. She weighed 11.79lbs.
#2 big fish was caught on the Ca. Delta Feb. 2009 10.21lbs. Both fish were caught flipping a jig. Those are the only two I have over 10lbs. I`m am due for another.

Lake Sardis, April 2011. Flipping a jig in 2 feet of water. Made that three day trip worth everything, I only caught two other keeper bass all weekend.
