I posted about the controversy at our last club meeting with regards to a couple of guys having a problem with a 6 year old winning Lunker of the Year in our club, because there were 3 people in the boat. Last night was our meeting, and it actually went very well. I actually used one of the quotes that was given during the response to my post, and told them that we need to be including the younger generation, not excluding them.
After a pretty calm discussion, the guys who had a problem at the previous meeting actually realized how childish they looked by making that statement and apologized. We all agreed to make the rule that 2 people are allowed per boat, unless the other anglers are under the age of 16. The boy will keep his lunker of the year award, as it should be!
The boy's father was not at the meeting, much to my disappointment. Irv from DocIrv lures and Paul from A.C.T lures both donated some custom lures for the young man, and I will be sending them via mail to him. I will make sure his father includes a picture of Jaden with the custom lures, and Im sure he'll love them! I did not unwrap the lures, so I am just as curious to see what he got as the rest of us.
I left the meeting feeling that we got this one right. I was fully prepared to tell everyone there to eat chit and bark at the moon, and that I will no longer be fishing with them, but it never came to that. All the members that were present last night did what should have been done, and hopefully this will encourage some of the father's to bring their kids to the lake. The way I look at it, any kid that is fishing with his dad on Sunday's, wont be out chasing dope or getting in trouble. Thanks guys for the support from my earlier post. It sure helped me screw my head on straight before the meeting, and show up last night fully prepared on what was right.![]()
