    Emergency Trailer help

So I have a shot caliper...

It is on a Sleazy-Loader (ezloader) 2008 Skeeter I class trailer

It is a UFP model D30X

I need a cross ref or one of these asap. Any ideas for me? Seems the auto parts places here are helpless lol

I know that Kia brake pads work would the same caliper work lol?

It's possible take it off and go match it up or order one from the sponsors here.

Perhaps check out some RV dealers

This will sound dumb but whats shot with the caliper?? If its leaking i would clamp it off for the mean time..Locked up??..insert a wedge that fits between the pads and zip tie it to the frame..That way you can at least get around for now and just leave extra room for breaking

    Re: Emergency Trailer help (JerryT)

well it needed pads so I did the normal removal drill set the clamp on here to reset the caliper and as soon as I made one turn it sprayed out around the piston. took off the clamp piston falls out of caliper out runs fluid

Yes I had released the pressure on the brake and as an FYI it had eaten the inner pad to the metal squeaker.

    so here we is lol

other option is there a way to clamp off the line and use it without the brakes for a week. I know the safety ramifications and I want to fix it but I have a lake 4 miles from the house and have to test a few things as I have someone coming from colorado (read expensive plane ticket) that is coming to go fishing and I want to assure stuff is running right.

    Re: Emergency Trailer help (ZeroHour)

Is there a way to just block the line or can I just leave the caliper off on the one side for now? I assume i will get a fountain of fluid the first time I apply the brakes.

I need to know at least how to get it to a shop. I dont have the time to deal with this tihng at the moment and its worth more for me to just pay someone right now.

you should be able to get a fitting that will plug the line where the flexible line goes into the hard line. Auto parts stores have this kinda stuff as I'm sure you know.

there should be a rubber line connecting the caliper to the hard line for the breaks. you can take i pair of needle nose vise grip pliers and clamp the line off that way and still be able to use the brakes.

what kia brake pads fit the brakes

    Re: Emergency Trailer help (kiabass22)

okay Kia sephia from 99-04 are an exact pad match.

    Thanks for the fitting suggestions.

I know I can get that stuff at an auto store I just have never even attempted to rig a brake line and had no idea of the ramifications of blocking it off at all. Something I had never in my life explored and wanted to hit up those that may have experienced this sort of thing before.

This is the first time I have had a brake failure and been unable to locate parts locally at an auto place.

if you could get a pic of the caliper on the trailer i could tell you better if the one from the sephia would work

i have use the pliers on my ford truck before, the ribber lines on those trucks have a tendency to colapse and lock the the caliper down. i have used the pliers on the line after cutting the line and driven it afterwards

The auto parts stores will also sell pinch off pliers, or brake line clamps. They are like a small c-clamp with rounded edges. They work great and are very cheap. You do not have to take anything apart. The go on the flexible line and clamp it off.

Chris, If you clamp one side and not the other be careful!!! If you encounter wet roads, it could cause a jackknife situation on wet or slick roads. Be gentle on the brakes.....

Kia sephia caliper piston and a seal and boot kit. NAPA Autoparts! Just rebuild the caliper.
