    Auto body guys

Got in a wreck today. I went through red light on slick roads other driver jumped the green light and I t-boned him going about 30 mph. He is okay I am okay. Anyways I am trying to get an idea of how much damage is done to my truck money wise. It is an 01 f-150 supercrew. I need a new bumper, hood, grill, both headlight assemblies, both fenders up front and a new drivers side door. Airbag did not go off. Can anyone give me a rough number? Thanks guys.

Too hard to guess. Had it happen to me twice. Once was $10 000.00 the other was a write off. Up here that is law to call police (over $750 in damage) and would recommend insurance companies do it.

Just off the top of my head, I wouldn't be surprised if your insurance company totaled it.

Cops were there reports filed insurance already been called and are on it I am just trying to get an idea on if the truck will be totaled or not. I have no idea what body work costs so I dont want to go into this with no clue and get taken to the cleaner.

Go to NADA or KBB and find out your truck's value. Figure 50% of that value and if your damage is greater than that, chances are they will call it a total loss.

I could be off, but I've always heard that is a good rule of thumb.

If the insurance is doing it, how will you be taken to the cleaners?

Why did you run the red light?

30mph front impact on a ten yo vehicle, more than likely totaled. I'm sure you have more damage than what is visible. I hit a deer at 35 did (what i thought) minor damage. After all was said and done it was 6200 in damage, and it was just the front left side of my truck. not even into the quarter panels and nothing right of the bow tie. Body work is EXPENSIVE and I would suggest looking for a new ride soon

Most body shops just replace the parts anymore, if they use used parts they can repair it cheaper.

As far as repair, considering the age of your truck, the insurance company will likely write aftermarket parts where it can. If you took a front end impact, how about header panel? Did it bend or puncture the condenser or radiator? Possibly have a little side sway from radiator support moving or bent? And your drivers door, a whole new door, or lkq door, or door skin? Plus paint blending time on drivers rear door plus rt front door and all necessary r&i for trim/emblems. Its really hard to ballpark without seeing it first hand.

Re: Auto body guys (Big Daddy 1)

Most likely the insurance co. is gonna total it. If it's a good truck, I'd buy it back from the ins. co and have a shop repair it for you at a contract price. New aftermarket fenders, hood, grill, chrome bumper, both mounting plates, both headlamps, and an lkq door costs less than $800 bucks here. It shouldn't be too hard to find a shop that would do it for 2 grand plus parts. Most likely you're gonna need some repair at minumum on your core support.

You gotta look at not only the fenders, hood and grill damage but also the sub-structure of the front clip. It does not take much to damage that sheet metal as they are designed to give on impact. I would guess that it will be a total loss.

I would say totaled for certain also the fact that the airbags didn't deploy in that situation would scare me , that kind of damage/crash should have deployed a properly functioning airbag system,,,take the insurance and get a new truck and thank the Lord no one was injured
