From all I could find he is near death. And that he passed is just a rumor.

Where did you hear this? The local news and espn says he is in serious condition.

It's a report out of Cleveland, and I can't find it anywhere else, including the big outlets. The time stamp on the story was 6:48pm EST, and ESPN filed a story at 8:23pm EST saying he was serious.
I'm thinking someone jumped the gun a bit.

Sad....I would think his final days were living hell.

I didn't think he'd last long after he was forced out.![]()

I'm a die hard Penn State fan. He was one, if not the greatest coaches in college football. Before the abuse allegations when you heard the name Joe Paterno you thought of a good coach, person, and family man. Now after the allegations againsts the sick Sandusky. you think of his name with some shame. The jokes I've herd concerning the topic, make me sick
to know people judge him for one mistake he made over his 85 year life. They forget he still is a representative of not only college football but the sport itself. They also forget he has one 409 games and the amount of bowls he's played in and "Won 24, Lost 12, Tied 1". Joe lived a great life and will always be remembered as the winningest coach of college football.

Rumor or not it doesn't sound like he is in good condition. Its a shame that his legacy got smeared the way it did. Im no Penn st fan but love sports.for Joe

Yeah the initial report was from the Penn St student paper. But the Paterno family spokesmen went on Twitter and said it was "absolutely not true".
