I almost saw my business go up in flames today

I own a four car carrier and today as I was loading my last load of the day, I was winching a ford Taurus up on the roof. Well the car has two blown out rear struts and right rear tire was flat, no big deal pretty normal for hauling salvage cars.
Well to my surprise and a first for me the gas tank got Hung up on the top deck as soon as I realized it the car popped loose then about 20 gallons of gas camepouring down onto my exhaust and muffler. All I could do was shut down the truck and watch.
And to my amazement nothing happened I couldn't believe it the muffler and exhaust pipe was steaming I thought for sure it was going to go up in flames .

I was really lucky to say the least
I've been hauling cars for the past six years and I have never had anything as scary like this happen

Just wanted to share my story as I still can't believe it didnt go up
Someone had to be looking over me today

Wow that would have been tense time for sure. Aren't trucks like that supposed to have external extinguishers? I would have been all over that.

Ya I have a 2 pound extinguisher in the cab , but with the amount of gas that was pouring out I think I would have been out of luck had it ignited

Gas is hard to ignite with heat, but one spark and it will go fast. Oil is the danger on an exhaust.
