    motor can't find nuetral????

    I have a 97 j25stle4d Johnson 225 motor serial # g04334523
I have put this on an older boat with the older control since my boat burnt this spring. There has been a few times when I have had to wiggle the shifter or put it in forward and reverse to get it to roll over. sometimes just trim a little the rolls over and starts. tonight the third time we went to move it would do nothing then after trolling motored accross lake and finishing the tournament after getting it on the trailer worked fine several times now that I'm home will not roll over. Any guesses I'm thinking ground in the control or nuetral switch

Let me ask this question since it is related but not the same.

When I put my throttle in gear and give it gas, and if it dies, I can move the throttle back to the neutral position and it will fire off and start like I just turned the key over. Is this normal? First time boat owner here, so not sure if that should be doing that. I wouldn't think you would want that to happen. Is my key not turning back once the engine starts?

Also, shouldn't I be able to rev up my engine with the throttle some way?? How do you keep it in neutral then give it gas? I know on some boats, you pull out the throttle towards you for neutral, but this one doesn't do that. It just has a little trigger under the grip and then that moves the throttle foward. It won't go foward and give the engine gas unless your in gear. I don't understand that.
