    W.O.T trim stoppping!!

I have a 98 evinrude intruder and when Im running wide open throttle I can trim it out but it automaticly stops, at idle I can trim it all the the out and flat with the boat. Is there a sensor that only allows you to trim it up so far or what? I have seen boats that you can trim all the way out of the water if you wanted. This is new to me, can someone fill me in.

Your Evinrude is working like it is suppose to. Mine does the same thing. I'm not sure if it is tied to a certain speed or not, but you can only trim the motor up so far at a certain speed.

I'm sure it was done for safety reasons. You don't want that motor coming up too high, especially at higher speeds or going into a turn. Also, the motor does not have the support it needs (after it clears the two trim lift rods, or whatever they are called) for anything above idle. You would damage your motor running at higher speeds this way, not to mention what it does do to your water pressure.

It is where the unit is coming off the trim unit and transfers to the tilt unit, which it does have a switch to control the amount it is raised...

When the trim unit reaches the top of its travel (the two rods) it will stop trimming, the single rod (tilt) will hold the motor up at low speed.

This is controlled by the trim unit and it is controlled by fluid.
