Gary Loomis Temple Fork Outfitters Rods

Whats the good and bad on these rods? Was looking at the TFG FWC 765-1 model for deep cranks. Anybody tried any of these?

I don't have one, but a friend of mine does. He loves it.

It has been my personal experience that anything with Gary Loomis' name on it, is the $hit!!!

Thanks for the info. Was also looking at the Compre Rod. Looking for a good DD22 Hot Lips cranking rod.

I was interested in them...until I picked one up. They didn't feel right to me and I think you can do alot better for the price elsewhere.
    Question everything!

Go check one out if you can. I did and I'll say there are rods I like better for the same or even less money.

Re: Gary Loomis Temple Fork Outfitters Rods (JDH_STL)

Felt them at BPS and like others have mentioned they feel heavy. That being said, and I might be in the minority, but I don't see the point in spending a ton of $ on moving bait rods (spinnerbaits, cranks and topwater) as I don't feel the necessity to have extreme sensitivity for those type baits as they are reaction bites. I spend more on the bottom contact rods myself (texas rig, carolina rig, shakey and jigs). So I would find a 7' medium glass rod with quality components for a price that is somewhat low, a brand you trust or feels the best paired with my reel. My 2 cents.

With TFO rods you do get stainless steel guides with SiC inserts and the handle is not to short. I never fish a TRO but BPS Signature series II I did. The handles are longer then TFO and they have the good guides too.
