I didn't read the wiki info but I can say that I'm not sure if Ethanol is the real deal or the current "It" thing to use.

The reason I say that is because Fuel Ethanol is currently subsidized at just over 50 cents a gallon by, us, the tax payers and the spot price has been running just over 4 BUCKS a gallon in the northeast. Even E10 is running around 30 cents per gallon (current spot price) more the conventional gas.

If we took the selling price out of the equation, the cost to make Ethanol isn't cheap or a hydrocarbon product free. You have to remember that farmers don't just plant corn and rain makes it grow. It takes lots of fertilizer and few people know that the nitrogen fertilizer is mostly produced from natural gas.

My thing on Ethanol as a fuel is that it would be nice to see it sold at stations as E100 but have a button on the fuel pump that allows a customer to select the fuel as 100% gas, E10, E50, E85 and E100. In addition to having a fuel pump that mixes automaticlly at the rate one wants, all gas power autos should be sold in the future as "True" Flex Fuel vehicles. This would allow someone to pump anything from straight gas or Ethanol or any mixture which should help regulate pump prices.

Sorry for the rant, but I think I might have posted to much, even though I could rant on a lot longer. I'll stop for now.

The problem is you will never see true E100....E100 is nothing but pure, 100% 200 proof moonshine.... The 15% gasoline in it is put in there to make it lethal if you drink it.

"Shine".....You can still get that around here and it makes a great fuel additive.

E100/"200 Proof" is pretty much impossible to make/store !

Alcohol will absorb water vapor right out of the air so you will always have a 2-5% water in your 'shine !
