    Rick Clunn common sense....

I've seen this before and think it's worth sharing with those folks that get all wrapped up in what type of boat they think they want or have to have in order to be a good fisherman. Seems the older we get the more wisdom comes naturally. Good advice here from a good guy and great fisherman.

Pops can wear me, and a lot of other guys out in his tin rig. The fish don't know what you are floating on.

Steve Kennedy also used a tin rig at the 2009 classic

It's not just about using the boat at the classic. Like he said, "you don't need a $50,000 boat to be successsful"...

That to me really say's alot about a pro who is concerned with the direction of bass fishing.

I have to agree with Rick on this one... There's a couple of guys around here that clean up on most of the tx's in an old glasstream with a 75 horse Johnson on it... Bottom line is, if you can't fish, a bigger boat probably won't help you too much. Hats off to Rick Clunn for trying to show people that you can be competitive in a smaller boat.

What I found interesting is that he's wearing a shirt with "Z9" in huge letters across the front while he's saying "we're giving people the wrong impression".

Sorry guys but I see a dis-connect there.

What it all boils down to is a boat is just a place to stand and cast.

Could it be that Tracker is trying to gain even more market share in the aluminum boats. Great promotional clip. I believe he is fishing out of the aluminum boat because he believes it will give him an edge in some way. It also might play some mind games with other competitors. He probably has an area scoped out that he can only get to with the smaller boat. Besides, he has the big boat if he needs it.

Not only does this hold true for the boats we use but the equipment also. Some people believe that they need to spend big money on rods, reels, and tackle to catch fish. I do not use the top of the line equipment and do pretty darn good. Not saying that I would not get the expensive stuff if I could.

Re: Rick Clunn common sense.... (NY Trooper)

I like having a big boat because it's a freakin' blast to drive.

I still get a big ole smile when I hammer that hotfoot and she screams down that glass first thing in the morning.

I bought, I paid for it, I own it. Do I need it to catch fish? Nope. I bought it because I wanted too.

To many people in this country get wrapped up in telling others what they "need" and "don't need". As long as I don't pay for it, get what you want.
Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day

Teach a man to fish, he will complain that you stole his fishing spot.

    Yep.
Honestly, I can't stand the guy, and I shut off as soon as he opens his mouth. The best thing to happen to the "Bass Pro's" show is him not being on it.

BTW Mark Menendez WON an even a few years back in a G3 aluminum rig.
