    Pool 14 Vegitation

Took the wife for a boat ride today up and down pool 14 and I was really surprised at the amount of pads and weeds that have developed on that pool. I hope this might help support a little better bass population on that pool in the future.

I also fished 17 last week and didn't see a weed the length of the pool. It's a shame what the constant high water has done to the southern pools.

I think pool 14 has good fish and good fishing in it. There is times that the fishing is much better there than other pools. Might not be the size you get on 13, but for numbers it can be really good.

I couldn't agree with you more that the fishing can be great on 14. The problem is the size though. It just doesn't produce the weights that some of the other pools do. I'm hoping that the increase in weeds that I saw today may help improve the fishing even more.

Hasn't been any weeds here since 1992. The big flood of 1993 wiped them all out. Big Timber used to have all kinds of grass and pads. Now they're gone forever .

Fishing was pretty good on 17. Just had to leave the frog rods at home though.

Fishing has been pretty solid for the past few years now. I used to lock out of 17 on tournament day. The past 5 years or so I feel comfortable staying. Were you fishing a tournament this weekend?

Small club tournament. 14.7 or so won, a couple of 13lb limits and the rest were bunched up in the 9-11lb range. Everyone did pretty good numbers wise and there were two over 4lbs brought in. It was a fun day, we caught everything from dogs to whites and even culled through a couple of limits.

Most of my fishing this year has been on 13 so this was a nice change of pace. Our best fish were in the heavy current on laydowns or riprap. Sure beats spending a day trying to make them eat the frog with the push-pole out.
