    No wake??

I am just wondering if I am crazzy for wondering why the the town of McGregor Iowa has the right to make the whole west channel a no wake area? It seems odd to me. Maybe this is the case in other river towns? Thanks for the input.

Yeah, it caught me by surprise last year . Dunno how they do it but it's done . Doesn't make a whole lotta sense if you ask me. Kinda like building a house in the middle of the interstate and then yelling at the cars as they go by . That's the only area on the river that I know of that has done that. Hopefully it doesn't become routine.

Not sure how "legal" this idea is but.... when we had our Rally up there last year we were told that as long as were outside the buoys we could run. So at blast off when we got to the no wake zone we went on the Wisconsin side of them and blew by. Technically that was legal because we were outside the buoys. I noticed this year there weren't any buoys though. Just signs on the Island on the East side of the channel and at MacGregor. That would eliminate the option of running outside the buoys.

That whole area is no-wake now. Came close to getting a ticket this past summer because I was under the same impression, run to the Wisconsin side of the buoys and you would be ok. Not sure why the change, but it is a pain in the backside.
