Now that my 2001 225 rude has been stripped down there saying one fuel injector is the culprit and that it is going to cost me $7900 to rebuild it with a new fuel injector. Is this a crap deal or is this what it cost to fix....chris

Chris,
Here is just a suggestion. If everything else is still good on the motor, you may want to contemplate parting it out--lower unit, cowlings, everything. You will probably come up with a couple of thousand dollars from doing that. Then, look at buying a newer motor (if not a new one) that will have some warranty. You can pick up loose motors from several dealers (such as http://www.candomarine.com). Give Todd a call and see what he has. He gets stuff in all the time and may have something you'd like. I believe you can find an '03 or '04 225 H.O. for not a LOT more than the $7900 you were quoted on your motor.
That's just my opinion on this, but that's a lot to drop for a rebuild. What kind of warranty are they giving you?

I would agree with Jason. Year and a half ago I was going to repower my 521 Ranger and Todd at C and O marine had by far the best deal on motors. He was going to save me enough money to make it worth driving to Nashville from Maine. I ended up buying a new boat. Plus they are really nice folks.
Good luck
Wow, But won't it still be like a new motor i mean having a factory rebuilt and all? I thought it was a little steep another dealer quoted me $6100 done but that wasn't including a fuel injector....chris
How many hours on the current engine and what is the warranty on the rebuild if something else goes south on you? These are the questions I would have if I were in the same position as you. Just trying to help.

Yes i understand and i appreciate it...I'm just wondering if i rebuild this one its gonna cost me $7900 and i get a one year if i do like you say piece out the other one and go down to c&o i might be able to get a newer one which is sweet..But it comes down to how much newer with what warranty on it and what will i get for pieceing out the old motor...Because i live in jersey and i'd be taking a 14 hour ride each way to get the motor then paying these guys to put it on so i need to take all this into consideration i guess...i really need to find out what motors he has and what he wants for them....chris
Even if your motor is running w/ a rebuilt p'head, you'll be lucky if you get $1500 for it on trade in. Save yourself the grief! I did and went new and it's nice to know there is a long warranty. I sent you an IM.

Well talked to C&O and he has no motors right now but my problem is he had a 03 225 ho that sold for $8000 with no warranty, not for nothing but i could go that route and get it home and put on and 2 months from now blow a cylinder then i'm really out of luck...I guess the only thing that would make sense is to find a motor still under warranty...chris

E-Tec motors come with a 3 year factory warranty. When I ordered mine BRP was running their spring special and it came with 3 year plus 4 year extended for a total of seven years.
I need a junk block for research and making templates. Is the block salvagable? If NOT I will take it off your hands. If it is try to get your money out of it! Email me fe_natic@hotmail
