2 guys I know was fishing the northwest side of Spring Lake.
The Nitro ran over the beaver dam they were fishing and ran up on the bank.
The passenger was injured. broke a colar bone I think. They must have been going pretty fast to go that far. This was a picture phone that took the pics.

Look at that grass growing there, I bet if the river came up alittle that'd be some good fishing.
No, that is what I thought to. It is between the willows and the tube on the North
west side of the lake. Lucky somebody wasn't hurt real bad.
Look at the trees on the other side of the (edit). If you are on the river side
of the (edit) along Savanna slough go to the (edit) and go up stream and it
opens up to a little lake. You can see the little lake just right of the boat.
oh sorry I edited my post to take that part out cause I saw you said the northwest corner. I don't spend much time up there. I don't know it real well and I'm always afraid of hitting something over there. That lake is so shallow its crazy. I wish the stupid river would come up a foot or 2.
I guess because of the q ueers (that now can get married in Iowa) I can not
use the word d ikes. ( a bank of earth to control water: levee) as in the
dictionary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()

I see 13 raised to about 10.5 recently. I haven't been on the water much but thats about 1.5ft from where it was.
So, is there a story to how that happened? Were they blind?!?
I know the 2 guys that took the pictures.
But the pictures was sent to me from another friend of mine.
So I didn't get all the details.
I think they must have been looking for mushrooms.
Have to find out from Waggs but I think its a little early to look for mushrooms
around there.
I guess what Legend is trying to say is that the guys in the boat thought it was legal now to jump d ikes.

I'd say if I was going to try jumping dikes I'd at least pick spot with water on the other side. Maybe they were going turkey hunting. I see them all the time in spring and they never seem to scared of bassboats so it makes perfect sense to use one as a blind.

Rick I no the area well, bad deal I hope they are ok. I had heard they air lifted 1 guy not sure.
As for the mushrooms yes we are finding some, but it will get better for sure. Real spotty. Between the father-in-law and me last year we had just over 80 pounds, very good year. Our best spots have nothing yet.

we found enough for a meal the last weekend but all small greys and it was hard looking. We also found some that grow on the dead stumps. We identified them and the book said they were safe to eat so we fried them up. not as good as morels, but they come up sooner and I haven't died or gotten sick yet.![]()
BTW Joe we ran that same place last year and we touched the limbs with the skeg if you remember. This year is a little different The bevs have been busy, maybe the guy thought it was the same as last year, and when we ran it the water was lower then it is now. Like I said I hope they are both fine.
