    Stuck steering!

Hey all, I am gonna try and lube up the steering on my boat, and was wondering if anyone on here knows what the threading is on the end of the tilt tube (pivot tube) or whatever its called. Its the tube that the end of the steering cable screws onto. And I have been having some trouble figuring out what threads onto it.
    Thanks.

Save your time and replace the cables.

I would but I am going to be getting rid of the boat soon, and don't want to spend that much money.....

    Then buy cheap cables.

Replacing the cables will be the easiest, fastest thing to do. And wouldn't you feel bad if you cobbled the existing cables, sold the boat, the cobblejob failed and someone got hurt?

    Nope not one bit.....

Because when I am done with it, this boat is basically getting sold for scrap.....

If you have the dual rack T-Flex steering I have a pair of 13'ers for a C-note or 1 for $60. I'll pay the shipping to VA.

I will let you know after this weekend, when I try to free em up. I think I am gonna try and go from the console side, which is much easier if you don't have a spare pivot tube laying around.....Which I have found.....

    Re: Stuck steering! (LookOutForShoals)

The problem with the cables is at both ends, console and motor ends have a sharp bend, this causes the inner cable to wear against the outer cover.

The motor end of the cable also picks up ALL road debris when trailering.....dust, dirt, ect.

This debris are pulled inside the motor steering tubes.

Spend a few bucks to be sure the steering works correctly for the new owner.

LOL.....your not getting me, most likely I am gonna sell the motor, and the boat is going to the bonfire....

AS far as the cables, if I can just get them a tad looser to get me through a fishing trip in a couple weeks, I will be happy, I usually don't hammer around everywhere, so I am not really worried about one breaking....
