    RAM oil in older GT150??

I have an 85 GT 150 that I bought last spring. The engine has seen Johnson/Evinrude TCW3 most of its life. My question is in regard to benefits of a better grade of oil.

If I run the RAM FICHT oil, I assume that I should reduce carbon build up, thereby increasing both performance and life of the engine. Is this accurate? Should it also reduce the amount of smoke and be a cleaner burning product?

    Thanks,
    Greg
    My Bass-n-Beach rig:
    92 Ebbtide Dyna-Trak 181SS Fish-n-Ski -
    98 Evinrude 150 Intruder
    74lb MinnKota
SOLD all the above Fall of 2010 - bought a big open bow Larson "family" boat. Family does not like the Mississippi River as much as I do, so I sold that in the fall of 2012.
I'm thinking it is time for a straight up bass boat.

    Yep,
But seeing that you have a carbed motor use the XD-50 not the 100 from a monetary standpoint. You'll still have to decarb but you do use a lot of oil in the older motors, the DI's and E-tec recirculate the oil in the system the X-flows don't and it just goes out the exhaust. Bring a gallon jug to your local dealer and buy it in bulk. CM

Yea you can get the xd-50 in bulk cheaper than you can get the xd-30 off tha shelf, and the xd-50 is much better for any outboard!!

Yep, my old rude is gonna have a nice XD-50 slugfest in the AM. Probably $50 in gas and half gal or so of the XD50 before most are out of bed. Supposed to be 75 and we are on a full moon.
