How much oil can I expect to see used in a 90 ETEC running wide open for 1.5 hours then trolling for 4 hours and wide open another 1.5 hours. The oil tank was full when I started and it was down about a third when I got back. I run XD100 on the XD50 setting.

Why do you run XD100 on the XD50 setting?

He might just be like me, over cautious at first. Had mine swithed to the 100 setting at about 20 hours. As for consumtion, I never ran mine FOT that much under the 50 setting so I'm not much help there.

Why not use the XD 100 setting. You'll use less oil and get the same performance. All you are doing now is wasting the good stuff and not getting the full benefit.Oil consumption varies with temp and RPM so getting an actual # is close to impossible, but yours is about right for the xd50.

I am on the cautious side and I still remember the 100 to 1 ratio on my 9.9 HP Evinrude. That motor didn't last long at all. Shortly after that OMC changed back to 50 to 1. The OMC reps said the 100 to 1 ratio was not good if the motor did not run very often. So until I hear some good reports from my mechanic in a year or so about how the inside of a XD100 set motor looks I am sticking to the XD100 on the XD50 setting. I don't want a repeat of the 100 to 1 ratio 9.9 failure. The ETEC has a seven year warranty and as long as I am covered I would rather be safe than sorry. (I still miss the 9.9, it was a good motor and only with us such a short time, we can all feel better knowing its in its in a better place now and it didn't suffer long )

However thanks for the info on the oil usage. So far this motor has been impressive other than a no oil buzzer when I first ran it.
