    Water in lower unit oil

Mercury 2.4l, serial number 0C138617. Recently replaced water pump kit. Was changing props, and checked the lower unit oil. All water, literally no oil. If the oil seal on the water pump kit was not installed correctly, can this cause water into the gearcase? If so, should the oil seals in the lower unit be replaced as well?

first thing drain the water and fill the gear case with correct fluid to prevent any rusting of gears and or bearings ect. then take it in and have gear case pressure tested to determine location of leak and have seals replaced. thats just my oppinion.

I drained the water last night and filled it with new fluid. I'll pull the lower unit and take it in for service. Thanks again!

Took it upon myself to rent a vacuum/pressure testing unit from a local auto parts store. Pulled the lower unit to find it would not hold vacuum or pressure. Took the water impeller apart to find it wasn't done right. Had a new one in the box and a service manual I bought today. Put it back together correctly and holding pressure and vacuum. Thanks for the quick replies!
