When did Triton change 20 and 21 ft hual designs

I am not up on Tritons, but thinking about buying another boat, 1 to 3 yrs old. Was going to look at an 09 21 and 2011 21 DC if I recall the years correctly. Its my understanding Triton made some changes and some of the newer ones, don't chine walk as bad, although I've never been a boat that was going fast that didnt chine walk a little and I've been around a fast boat or two.

I have a place on Sam Rayburn now days and my wife gets scared pretty easy when the water gets big. I may look at another brand but will not doubt look at a Triton, look to be a good boat.

Just looking for the skinny from someone other than a salesman, which years they made changes and so forth, anything else I may need to know.

    Thanks BD

the hp hull is the high performance, it hasnt really changed exept for the gas tanks positioning , the x2,x3,executive, and the xs are the easier to drive hull.

I think it was 06. or 07 when they introduced the executive series or the tr 200 and tr210 which were the executive hulls and then it went to x2,x3and now xs's if I recall it right.

I think it was 2006 when they introduced the XD hull. That hull became the X2 hull in 07. The are deeper hulls which would be a great boat for your wife. I'm not sure of the differences other than cosmetic changes in the 08 X2 hull and the 09 X3. I think in 2010 they introduced the XS hulls which aren't much different than the X3 hulls. They are deeper and didn't have the speed that some of the triton guys wanted so I think in 2008 they brought back the X series hull, tweaked it a little and call it the HP hull. In my opinion if you aren't looking for as much speed as you are comfort I would say a 07-08 21X2 would be a great choice. It won't be a speed demon (70-73) but would be one hell of a soft ride. Im not sure how correct all of this is just what ive picked up over the years. I've been in love with Tritons since '99 when Davey Hite won the classic and was on the cover of Bassmaster. I was 11 but that's all it took! Good luck with your shopping!

Kight21x , I talked to a dealer that has a 2011 HP I may look at. He pretty much said the same thing are you did. From what little I now, wouuld have to lean toward a HP, I'm used to a boat that gets up on top and goes. I don't mean wide open all the time, but up on top 50-60 mph with some boat out of the water. But woudl like something to still be able to get around if it gets rough.

They never got rid of the hp , the gas tank I believe was repositioned in maybe 08 or 09. The xd was a super deep hull for like the Great Lakes it had to run a 25 inch motor shaft .I believe they only made it 1 or 2 years. The executive was the first of the drivable hulls it went to x2 which was like gen 2. Then x3 which was gen 3, then the xs which is what they have today a 2011 hp will be the top of the line, set up right it will run in the upper 70's and eat up the big water, the 21xs will ride a little smoother but run low 70's

Like gambler said the HP will handle water great and will ride the way you are wanting it to. The 21xs will be alittle slower but would have a SLIGHLY better ride. I think JJTriton drives a 21xs so he would be a great one to ask about the ride difference in the xs & HP hulls. If it were me I wouldn't think twice about that HP if the price is right

My 21 HP rides just as smooth as my old 21 X2, it may actually have a softer ride, don't get me wrong, the X2 was a beast in the big stuff.

Yep, my dad has the same boat and it does take big water with ease. I have a 03 tr-20 and it does ok, not near as good as Dad's TR-21 though.
