Phase III and fuel question for Matt or Wayne.

Been hearing a lot of talk about E-85 where I live... Sounds like it will happen soon in Eastern KY. Where I fish mostly though ethanol free 87 and 89 octane fuel is available. If I understand correctly 91 octane is the min octane fuel that I can run safely in my 250 HPDI Phase III motor without the risk of burning a piston. Since I bought the boat in August I have been running E-10 92-93 octane fuel with Stabil Marine formula and Ring Free. I also have a 10 micron filter installed. What can I do if E-85 becomes the only 92-93 octane fuel available?

If E85 becomes the only pump gas available................we will have to park all our rigs There is not way a 6hp outboard will run on that stuff!!!

There are too many vehicles on the road today that cant run e85 for it to become the only fuel available to you. I wouldnt say never but its going to be a while.If it would become the only fuel in the 89 to 93 range you may have to start mixing 87 and racing fuel.

Find your local oil company that delivers fuel to farmers. Go and buy there ethanol free fuel. Whether the pumps say it or not, if you are buying from a gas station I will almost guarantee it has ethanol in it. I run my boat up to the oil company and fill up during the season with 93 ethanol free. Its a pain in the ars but its piece of mind.
