    OCTANE question

    Hydrotech,
I currently have a set of HT heads on my V-4 Yamaha that show 160 PSI on a warm engine with the throttle wide open when testing. I have always run 93 octane ethanol fuel and have seen 90 and 91 octane NON-Ethanol fuel at the marinas. If I am in a bind would it be ok to run this if I am running low on fuel, say to get home if I needed extra fuel?
    Dale
P.S. Can I run it all the time? Would it make a difference?

    Re: OCTANE question (dalec1)

You will be just fine running the 91 octane. That is our recommended minimum octane with our heads.
You probably won't notice a huge difference in how it runs from 93 to 91. It may be a slight improvement in performance just because the 91 is a little hotter burning fuel than the 93.

    Re: OCTANE question (Mat_HT)

ok, Matt, thanks for the heads up.
I see a Station here in town selling 91 NON-ethanol and would like to give it a try. I have heard stories both ways on the use of ethanol and NON-ethanol fuel and it's use in boats.
