2002 Yamaha 200 Vmax HPDI with removable nosecone???

I was given a removable nosecone to try on my motor which is on a 2002 TR20. It goes over the bullet of my lower unit and uses 2 screws that screw into where the intake screen is supposed to be. I have to remove the screen for the screws, but this nosecone has lower water pick ups, and inside the nosecone itself has ridges from the lower water intake that act as channels to the water intake on the lower unit. He used this on his 200 Merc, and he said that it should be compatible with my Yamaha lower unit. With a 25M Yamaha prop, I was running 73gps by myself, 1/2 tank of gas @ 5850-5900rpm's, and with 2 people running 70gps, same amount of gas @ just about the same rpm's give or take 100rpm's. I was at 20#s of water pressure at 2.5inches below pad too. Has anyone ever seen one of these nosecones, used one, and know if it will work on my Yamaha? Any performance gains?

The profile of the Merc and Yammie are totally different, can't see the compatibility myself. Second point, never saw a screw mounted nose cone before and can't imagine it would stand up to the force applied. I have lost nosecones that were welded on before. Interested in how it works out for you

Like you said, the profile of the LU's are different from a Merc to a Yammie. it actually fit on the LU perfectly snug, but the screw holes on the nosecone were about a 1/4 inch past the intake screen, so I would not be able to secure it to the LU. If I tapped two new holes in the nosecone to line up with the intake screens on my lower unit, it would have probably worked, but I did not want to mess around with that.
