I have been running 93 in my 300 HPDI phase 3, but have been told 89 will do. With the ethanol gas, I was hoping the extra octane might compensate some for the lower quality. Anyone have any comments or thoughts?![]()

Yep, Got that.Wanting opinions on using 93 to compensate for the lower quality of ethanol.

I have a phase II and I use 93oct just to be on the safe side.
The higher octane causes a slower burn in the cylinder to prevent predetonation with high compression heads. I don't think higher octane is going to do anything in regards to ethanol which is just replacing a certain amount of gasoline.

I'd say run what Wayne tells you to run in your motorBUT ethanol gas has lower BTU rating than non ethanol gas regardless of it's Octane so I've been thinking that actually mixing some AV Gas or Racing Gas with it's higher BTU rating might be helpful in more ways than one?
I've got a connection for some 55 gallon drums of racing gas Eli.......................let me know what you need..........
