oil comsumption

I know this has been discussed before, but what is the average amount of oil a series 1 300 hpdi uses per gallon of gas? per 20 gallons?

Whichever is easiet to calculate. Just wondering.

    Thanks guys

I have that motor and it will burn about 1 gallon of oil for every 30 gallons of gas. It seems all these Yamaha's burn allot more oil than the Mercury's, just my experience with both motors.

You mean Mercs only last one year? Just kidding.

Mine was an unfortunate victim of timing. It blew in its 2nd summer just prior to the bulletin coming out about the new oil pumps, and consequently it never received it. When it blew last week (in its 4th summer) it received the new oil pump.

This time it happened during the transition period and Yamaha had parts on hand. Turn around was < 5 days this time!

    Should be good to go!

Maybe this old post will help. I'd contact your dealer and Yamaha to be sure.

Good luck, I hope you have one with the new pumps already.

Thanks Craig, my dealer went out of business, so I'll give Yamaha customer service a call tomorrow.

Update---call Yamaha and they said no recall on my motor.
