    300 ecu on 250

Wayne now that I see Dougs posted what do you think I could get from the same 3 mods on my motor?? I know his boat is lighter but he went from a 200 to the 225 ecu and I would be go up to a 300 ecu

I take it I still could run 87 oct for gas also??

and could I get prices for the the parts send to

    basscatain@hotmail.com

Also I take it that if I was to do a Phase kit down the road I would need to go to the 300 ecu anyways??

    Thanks Kirk

Re: 300 ecu on 250 (macinckirk)

Wayne will know for sure if this will work doing the 250 with a 300 ecu, the port height is quite a bit different on the 300's, I'm assuming the fuel curve and timing is also going to be different to compensate for the different port heights.. What makes this a good swap for a 200 (putting a 225 ecu on) is the fact that the porting and cyl heads are the same between a 200 and 225...

    Wayne... You're up...

Thanks for the reply and that all make sence to me if it does not work for the 250

Just my luck too that I would have to go the 4000.00 $ way

yeah, dentguy was right on. And even with the Phase kit, the 300 ecu won't run as well with the stock 200/225 porting. Its just designed to run with those huge exhaust ports on the 300.

    Re: 300 ecu on 250 (Mat_HT)

Thanks Matt for the reply, after dent replyed and I got to thinking about it I knew he was dead on

I just would like to make sure I understand you right also, on my 250 hpdi when I do a phase 3 on it your saying I will Not need to change my ECU to a 300??

Also with the phase 3 kit. I take it I should have you guys do the lower unit mod for the low water pick up would you also change gears when its off or just run it with the gears that came in it??

The drive from me to you guys is going to be a long 1 and I would want to do it all in 1 trip, and if I,m going to spend that much $$ I would want to get ALL I can out of this motor, so is there anything else that I'm missing

If you do the full mods on the motor with porting and all you will need the 300 ECU.

On the lower unit your choice of gears is 1.75 which you have now or 1.87(I think) which you will not want. The only way to go to 1.62 gears is to do a sportmaster lower unit.

The boys at H-T will know better about the lower unit stuff, but I think a 1.75 lower with their mods might be better than a 1.62 sporty... Maybe????? Oh, and I do know what WILL make a H....U....G....E.... difference, ask Wayne about the "Holy part" we tried on my boat this past weekend.... W O W .... You won't be dissapointed with anything these guys do for you... Also, plan a couple extra days down there when you go, they'll take you to the lake and get your combo dialed right in...

    Dent

I dont want to go to a diff lower unit housing because I want to keep it looking like a stock yammie. But I do want the lower water mod done to my unit so I'l have to stay with the yammie gears

Im going to have a week min set up for there when I do this because I know they will need a few days to do the work, then I want to test it and get it set up and any break in time done so when I leave there I feel good about the motor beening right

I don't live close to anyone that can work on yammie's so if I needed to stay a few days longer to get it right the 1st time that is fine (I also hope that I get to watch them put it togther so if need I can do it at home myself)

I guess I may even have to brake open the piggy bank since I have a feeling the $4000.00 is going to be alittle low I hear these boys allso like to have a few drinks after hrs, I sure hope I don't have to foot the bar tab for the whole time there to get that extra 2-3mph

Good call on the low water pickup mod on the stock gearcase.. The guys in the shop will have no problem with you hangin' out, my bet is they will have a new powerhead built by the time you get there and just do the swap then (assuming you are having the portwork done), they may also have the lower unit done too.. That should keep shop time down to a minimum and water time way high as priority... There is a rumor going around that some of the fellas at the shop enjoy a cocktail or two after hours I may or may not be able to confirm this but I guarantee you will have a good time!!
