Dual Power Poles and getting boat on plane ??

    IMG_1474.jpgI have a 2004 Nitro NX 882 w/150 merc 23p
over the winter i installed a dual PP pro 2 setup so this is the first season using them.
I noticed with the weight of the 2 PP's, 2 people, and gear i notice that my boat is harder to get on plane.
has anyone else experienced this? If so what was done to get the boat on plane in a timely about of time?

maybe you need to change your prop because of all the extra weight?are your poles mounted to far down-dragging your brackets while trying to get on plane?I didn't notice too much with mine , but when I want to get on plane faster I turn sharp one way then the other right away-seems to help a little

Tony, I have guys with smaller boats and much less horse power not having any issues.. How many RPM is the motor turning while up on plain? Is the motor lugging, bogging, cavitating etc when you hammer the throttle?

hey Tony, when your on plane, the poles should be out of the water, maybe you have them installed to low and it takes more work for your boat to put you on plane, the pp don't way that much. I think you need to pay attention to how she sits in the water, and what is going on during take off, and adjust from there.

Right now they are in the middle of the adjustment. i can slide the bracket all the way up (about 1 1/2 inch) and see if that helps.

If you put a foil on it make sure it's a Allison or Bryan's foil
Not some other POS that's going to slow you down.

I had a similar issue when I installed mine. I had the poles adjusted to try to get maximum depth when deployed. The turned my boat into a slug. Adjusted the poles as far up the bracket as possible, problem solved!

yeah i have mine adjusted in the middle so i can clear the garage door.

i just bought a hydrofoil so im hoping that solves the prob and maybe i can move the poles a lil lower?? we'll see..

You'll be going in the wrong direction. Move them higher! That hydrofoil will definitely help getting on plane. But you will not get max performance if the poles are still creating drag.

My boat has no problem getting on plane with the poles DOWN.
It does knock off about 5mph from the big end though.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
