I have a 01 v max 225. If im idling with it in gear I dont have a problem but if I give it just a tiny bit of throttle it will start spitting or backfiring. It may be detonation I just can't tell. Some times it spits hard enough to kill the engine. It happens just a few rpm's above idle with the engine in gear. Any thoughts on what the problem is?
Sounds like a lean sneeze and could be caused by the TPS needing an adjustment.

sync and lync time!!!! tps setting and syncronize throttle flaps
It idles in gear or in neutral fine, if im going through a no wake zone at an idle and barely give it throttle to putt alittle faster is when it spits. Sync and lync...is that for fuel injected engines and carbed engines? Im trying to find some info on this but im not having much luck. What are the neg. effects on tne engine if tps isnt in sync.. besides the spitting and dying?
