Can the stainless steel trim rods? pistons? that are slightly mushroomed be ground down so that my "motor sticks " that hold the motor up while trailering will fit over them more easily ?

I can't leave anything stock, I can't leave well enough alone.
I need to customize everything. I think I can improve others
designs, sometimes.
Prolonged grinding may overheat the rods and ruin your seals. If they're not causing any sticking issues why mess with what's working? "Motor sticks"?????

Come on man , you dont know what motor sticks are ?![]()
Just googled it. Now I know. What would keep them from popping off if you hut an unexpected bump in the road?
As far as the piston ram mushrooming, other than what you would do, replacement is your only other option.
Limit the grinding time to allow for cooling.

I grinded mine down with a bench grinder when I replaced my seals. Worked fine. I don't remember it building up much heat, but it didn't really matter as I was replacing the seals anyway.

I pulled the caps and pistons on mine and turned them down on a lathe until I could slide the cap off and then replaced the seals. It hasn't leaked in two years.

Grab a big hand file and go to work. Or use a power grinder if 30min of manual labor is a foreign idea.
It's a novel thought to be sure, but, I don't see any way possible for a person to hurt the seals using a grinder. That rod will not get that hot 5" away.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
Guys , It was much simplier than i thought after all your comments, I just took a dremel tool w a grinding stone, put the motor all the way up, and ground them down, till the caps fit. No extraordinary heat build up occurred. done deal , next project.
