Another question for you Yamaha Guys. I am replacing my Evinrude with a 2005 250 HPDI and was wondering if I need to get Yamaha Gauges instead of using my Teleflex Gauges I currently have that are 2 years old? If I do keep my current gauges I assume I will lose all of the built in alarms on the 250. Is there something I can get that will monitor all of the alarms or are there after market gauges for the 250? TIA for any help.

Exactly which gauges are you referring to? I think the tach will work, fuel will certainly work, water pressure, voltage will work. The one that probably will not is the trim indicator as I think Evinrude uses a different ohm range. Your alarms will sound on the boat alarm if properly rigged. You can buy the Yamaha digital gauges but they aren't cheap and I can't think of anything you would really gain.
Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure the Teleflex gauges will work but I don't think they are equipped with alarms. When you say the alarms will sound on the boat alarm do you mean on the engine? I think if I replace the ignition switch with a Yamaha ignition switch it has an alarm on it. Is that true?

If you are running Lowrance you can link your motor to lowrance and have it monitor your motor

Most boats have a "horn" mounted in it around the driver console that gives an audible alarm signal for overheat, low oil, etc. That is what I am talking about. Yamaha also makes a small warning light package that will give you a red light, that you can mount on the dash. I am not familiar with an ignition switch with an alarm.

My gauges are not "yamaha" and they all work fine.
The alarm is made on/part of the ignition switch.
If you need a new ign switch, just let me know. I had a spare, but, couldn't find it. So, I bought a new one about a week ago, and, while it was on it's way to me, I found my spare.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
I have the yamaha switch ,I am thinking of putting the Yamaha digital gauges in ,but it is hard to justify the money

I didn't use the gauges because I got a great deal on new gauges from a dealer who was going out of business. I am going to put the used gauges on ebay for $200 but if you want them $150 to a BBC member. I never used them so they will be sold as is.
