SHO's "making oil" questions..looking for some answers

Folks I don't own one of the engines, but I want to try and gather some info. Before I was laid off in Jan I was the complaint manager of North America for a medical device company. When we had a complaint it was very helpful to get as much info as possible on the problem. Here is a list that if everyone who is having the "making oil" issue can provide, it may help find a solution. Again I own an old Mercury, but I hate to see guys get upset and not be able to enjoy their time on the water. Trust me, after not being able to afford to go for 9 months, ITS KILLING ME
    SN# of engine
    Hours on engine
    What boat is engine on
    What prop are you running
Do you run a jackplate if so what type
What additives are you putting in fuel tank i.e Stabil, Seafoam etc
What octane fuel are you using
When did problem start:I can't recall these starting until hot weather

If you think of anything else list them. Hope it gets resolved guys.

I'll play along. I am curious if this is occurring more with one HP versus another, so this will be helpful.

    65 hours,
    BCB Jaguar
    Yamaha T1 25
Manual JP, What ever BCB usues
Marine Stabil and Ring Free (every tank)

Boat was new in April, 2010 Problem was found within a few months of purchase during the 20 hour service.
My strategy, let Yamaha make it right like they always have.

    Phoenix 719
    Yamaha T1 25
    atlas 8" hydraulic plate
    StarTron every tank
    87 Shell

i follewed the break in to the letter. i was out there for the first crtical 3 hours with the stop watch and the owners manual. the next 7 i spent just like they said to.

my first symptoms came in hour 6 when the engine started to smoke at idle. a check revealed that the level rose from halfway between the marks to an inch over full. i took it to the dealer for a change and a download. the next 30 gallons of gas rose the level from between the marks to full. this time the dealer took an oil sample for yamaha. i then changed the oil and filter again on my own. the last two 30 gallon days saw only a 1/4" rise each from the center on the stick. i am in hour 10 now and the oil making is subsiding significantly.

Another question would be how much oil are you draining? Is anyone measuring?

    Re: (NCFatBoy)

They drained 9 quarts out at the 20 hour service. The dealer pulled another 1/2 quart less than a month later. I have pulled a quart off 2 other times since last July. I have also had the oil changed twice since purchased in April of 2010.

... i change the entire batch and filter every time i get to full on the dipstick.... not taking any chances. from what i can gather reading all the other information is that an inch on the dipstick is about a quart or so.
