48SPL will not run wot

My uncle has a 48SPL mod# VE48ESLETE ser# 6033114823 from whst he has said it will run wot for a time and then it just cuts back to about 1/4 throttle the primer bulb is still hard and he also said if he hits the primer button it will run the RPM back up but he has to keep pushing it sound like the carbs need to be rebuilt to me but wanted to know what the Johnson/Evinrude masters thought of this problem and thoughts will be a big help

I'm not a master but I also think the carbs need a cleaning.

Ditto!! Sounds like the carbs to me, see what the gurus say!

Carb job!!! Got the same engine, replace any hard or deteriorated fuel lines while you are there. If you do not do this, it'll clog them up again. Check the fuel hose from the tank also,install a new filter on the engine.
