    Clogged speedometer intake?

My speedometer doesn't work on my '02 150 Vmax. I was told that this is most likely due to the intake being clogged, and that I could clean it out with a drill bit. No dice. Seems like maybe there's a piece of gravel in there. What else can I do to fix this issue?

Just get a GPS and forget about it.You will make yourself crazy trying to keep debris outta that thing, and they are never correct speed anyway.

Two suggestions and you need to use caution with either one but I have had to do both. Disconnect hose under hood and blow back through the hose with compressed air use as little pressure as possible because you can blow the hose off which would mean you have to pull the lower unit to repair it. Use that drill bit in a drill and drill out what ever is in there. Like I said I have done both. I like mine to work also and I have GPS

Mine is disconnected and plugged at the motor... i'd love to find something else to replace that dial as a speedo is really a waste of time.

Mine works...for the time being. When it quits, and it will....it will read zero until I'm done with the boat.

You should have a double barb coupler by the motor which you can take apart and blow threw on the motor side. Try a can of compressed air the tiny tube should work good.

Get a GPS, more accurate. The speedo tube is crap. You will always experience clogging. Get a small drill bit, that is smaller than the hole, dirt, debri, wood, etc gets clogged in the hole. Just use th drill bit by hand and clean it out. That is what I used to do until I got GPS. Dont worry about it any more now.
