    trim ring

somehow the magnetic trim ring on my outboard broke and now i have now reading on my trim meter. do i get ahold of ranger for this or do i need to go through yamaha? not sure if this is on all yamahas, or if this is how ranger does their trim gauge? also, doesnt look that a new one will open enough to fit back over that bar that its on. also, my gas gauge will go from full to empty very quickly and run after its on empty for a long time. one tank more than the other. is there any way of fixing this? this might be a ranger thing not yamaha, but hopefully someone here knows what im talking about.
    thank you,
    Ben

If it's a broken trim cam, it can be replaced in about three minutes. Your dealer has em. Plastic ones are the old style, and the newer ones are metal. I can't help you with the fuel gauges.

Best picture I ever took...it's been on the net a million times. Yamaha made an upgrade on these from plastic to metal.

ok i got the trim cam the other day and tried putting it on and could not get it to register with the trim gauge. boat is on, motor is on and the gauge does not move no matter how i allign that ring. the one i took off about a week and a half ago was plastic, and the new one is metal. that shouldnt matter should it? hopefully someone can help me here.
    thanks,
    Ben

The tit of the cam should be riding on a plastic arm, is it? I don't have a picture of it, but the arm is back behind the cam and is a part of the sending unit.
