What motor is faster a 250 OX66 or hpdi?
hpdi is just a hair bit faster just a hair but the OX66 is about the most bulletproof motor ever produced by yamaha and you don't have to deal with the high pressure fuel pump and filter which is expensive to up keep and is the proven down fall of the hpdi if not very well maintained they clog and lean out cylinders mainly #1 cylinder! OX66 is a beast!!!
It depends on alot of variables most of which depends on boat setup. I've been in a few Skeeter ZX 250's w/ these motors. Some of them the HPDI was faster and there were a few that the OX66 was faster. So I wouldn't base my judgement on speed.
The OX66 is a proven, bullet proof motor. It'll drink more gas than the HPDI but they both love the oil. The HPDI is just as good but the only reason I would buy one is b/c it drinks the gas not as fast. Both good motors, just depends on what you want out of it.
