    Minimum MCA'a (CCA's) for 2005 225 HPDI Series 2???

Has anybody ever asked Yamaha and gotten an answer from them? I need to replace my starting/cranking battery and I've heard people on the board say that "most outboard companies recommend no less than 1000 MCA's for your starting battery". But when I looked it up in the owners manual it says a minimum of 675 MCA's. A starting battery with 1000 MCA's is hard to find. Some of the more expensive batteries (Optima's, DieHard Platinum series, etc.) have 1000 MCA's, but I can't see paying $230+ for a battery. The biggest cranking battery at Wal-Mart in the EverStart line is only 875 MCA's....

You are correct the manual calls for minimum of 675 MCA BUT it also states an RC of 182 minutes. The MCA is easy to get but the RC is not. Don't believe an 05 was a series II unless you changed powerheads..
Would suggest not going below the RC recommended to insure it lives through those long periods of fishing with the electronics on, livewells etc without any long runs between them.
I run a Trojan battery but i know they don't make this model anymore, and yes it was costly. Let us know what you get.

If you're near a Bass Pro Shop, they sell a 1000 MCA for about $100, even less when on sale.

    Re: Minimum MCA'a (GoTrollPerfect)

Go Troll: I have a Bass Pro near me in Leeds, I'll check that out, thanks!

Toledo: I guess I should have pre-stated a couple of things, I left this out because I hate bashing products, but I'm running an Interstate now and I will not be buying another one. This is the second one that has turned out to be junk. This one is only about 8 months old and has a 12 month replacement warranty on it and Interstate keeps telling me the battery is fine. It won't last but a couple of hours now and it's dead. When I first noticed it going bad it would last most of a day, but this past Saturday it was dead by mid-morning. But when it's charged it tests at the stated CCA's, so they say it's fine!?!?!

Shaft: You are correct, it is a Series 1, keystroke error on my part. I'll make sure to find one with the recommended RC's too, thanks!

Also with some of these DFI/HPDI engines using too small a cranking battery can make your motor run rough and cut out.
