    93 Pro V 150

Looking at a Ranger with a 93 Pro V 150 on it. Most of what I've heard about the late 80's -early/mid 90's Pro V's has been promising, so far. I'm assuming it's a gas pig (along the lines of a Johnson GT 150) and I hear they suck oil pretty hard.

Any common problems to be aware of?

What might I expect for compression readings? What would be considered low and would have me steer clear? I'm aware of the 10% difference rule.

What is best peak rpm to hold?

I have a 91 Pro-V 150 and yes, it sucks gas and oil. My compression is right around 110 and I regularly run it up to 5800rpm.

what he said,, exactly... but i think the oil consumption is due to the gas sucking

but they are prolly the most bullet proof outboards i've ever seen and i managed a 270 slip marina for 4 years.
