My dad is one of those guys who hardly ever buys anything, he just keeps on fixing the old one. Well, last weekend, the 1978 Ranger powered by the above mentioned 90 HP Yamaha managed to find a rock on the lower unit. Dented in the nose cone and cracked the case. It would stay in forward, but wouldn't reverse or go to neutral. Dad has it in his head that somewhere there's an old Yamaha sitting around with a blown head or bad piston or whatever, and that he can buy the lower unit and fix his boat. While this is theoretically possible, finding such an item sounds like quite a challenge to me. Any chance you fellas could point us in the right direction?
