same on mine from factory, tank-filter-bulb-engine. I just wish there was more room in bilge compartment. I have to remove oil tank to get the cover off my filter to get filter off.

It really does not matter how you install it. If it is after the bulb it will be easier to prime. Before the bulb you will have to remove the fuel line from the motor to be able to remove the air from the filter. I have had it both ways and as far as it effecting the motor or leaking at the o-ring I had no problems.

You can fill the filter with fuel before you screw it on but that gas will not be filtered.

My filter on my Z22 is in the back little lid compartment, driver side, right before the start battery. Mounted on the back wall of the storage compartment behind the driver. Don't have any pictures.

Spider1---You are right about priming the thing, but I just fill up the filter with gas before I screw it on. Yea it is not filtered, but I figured the Yamaha has 4 filters plus the secret filters on the motor, so that fuel should be filtered enough before it reaches the injectors, sense Mercury only require one filter.
