    4 STROKE YAMAHA

I can't say enough good stuff about the F series Yamaha 4 strokes. I owned an
F-150 for three years. Never sputtered. Just change oil after 100 hours, check lower unit and it has been running strong since I sold it three years ago. I moved up to an F-200 and it is a doll. A heavy weight but I have it on a Skeeter Walleye type boat (WX1880) and it carries it well. With a Bob's plate it does 53 MPH GPS all day long. Great engines. If you're looking for low maintainence, economy and a quiet ride, try one. If you're looking for the fastest go to a 2 stroke.

Couldn't agree more. I spec'd an F225 on my SL210 when we bought it last summer, and just could not be happier about it after 100+ hours. Quiet, fuel efficient, no buying 2 stroke oil and just a great running motor. Dealers tried to talk me out of it as they said I'd be losing 2-3mph of topend, but I don't care about that small of a difference. I value the fuel mileage and (anticipated) longer term reliability over that.

    Re: 4 STROKE YAMAHA (jejb)

Agreed. I blew my VMAX about this time last year and decided to repower, and it was the best thing I ever did. Quiet, smooth, sips gas, and plenty fast enough for me (53-55 top end). They're not nearly as maintenance intensive as alot of people say they are. I'll take the trade-off of changing the oil over dumping and burning two stroke oil all summer long.

Esoxfly..great photos!!! I feel the same about my F115. Although my SX180 is my first boat, luv the 4 stroke. I'm blessed not having to deal with pre-mix..and when i lift cowling the motor looks similar to a motor in a car...it's not intimidating.

Just had to clarify a few things. All Yamaha's are oil injected through an oil resevoir like all other manufactures w/ a few exceptions such as super old motors prior to the 90's and those whose injection systems have been taken off such as the case w/ many racing outboards and Evinrude/Johnsons whose VRO's are constantly taken out.

Not trying to bash you, just informing. Do love working on the 4 strokes though and like not having to keep adding oil to the resevoir.

That be a major plus one with the VmaxSHO. That 4 stroke motor is a gamechanger and is going to change the two stroke landscape going forward. Looks awesome on that kitty cat too.
