    Low Water Pressure

I never had a water pressure gauge that worked, but now that i got my rpm problem straightened out i changed the water pressure gauge. What i found today when i ran it was when i was running wot, my pressure was only about 10psi. The gauge is hooked up to a hose that is connected to the pisser and there is a T in the line. When i saw this i was worried... any suggestions??? Oh.. the propshaft is about 3 1/4 inches below the pad... and i dont think that is a problem.

    Thanks,

    Jim

I'd say that is low, idle usually is around 8 psi, WOT usually pegs the gauge depending on height. Try running it again without max trim and check it at about 4500.

Same here. I have a 1990 Evinrude 200 that was only getting around 10 - 12 psi. I thought the pressure was a little low so I changed out the impeller and still only get around 10 - 12 psi at 4500 rpm trimmed up or down. Old impeller looked fine also. Thought maybe the gage was bad but now I don't know.

the other thing i was wondering is it possible for the hose thats not connected to anything thats coming from the top of the pisser to be blowing water out? theres no cap or anything on it....

Do you see any signs of water around the area? If you replaced the guage, you should have replaced the hose also. They get pinched and shrink with time. You can't replace an impellar too much. The higher the engine runs, the more you will work the impellar.

Both of these motors have "Power Boost Cooling, if it is still on the motor then your water pressure sounds about right.

If its working don't change it but, if you want more water pressure....there is a service bulletin about removing the valve and replacing the thermostats and covers, check with Seahorse.
