Gas on block, and bogging problem on take off
Motor fires right up as usual but when I get on the gas to plane, the motor just bogs down real bad and wont get up unless my partner gets on the deck.Once on plane and partner in seat, boat runs fine at all rpms.Changed the plugs, old ones were black as night and I noticed a bit of gas/oil in the threads of the plug seats.Figured new plugs would take care of it but didnt help one bit.
Also noticed gas/oil on outside of block in the front.Could it be a fuel filter?Carb problem?Any other ideas? What should I do first? Will SeaFoam help at all?
Motor is a 1992 Evinrude 200 LE (E200STLEN)

Re: What could it be? (5basslimit)
It sounds like a flooding problem. Have you noticed any excess fuel leaking from the motor or unusual fumes? If the plugs are black, the engine is too rich or overproped. What are the wide open rpms? Does the engine change if you apply the "choke" when the problem occurs? Does the problem change when you pump the primer bulb ? Have you noticed a change in the oil consumption, It may be severly overoiling. Is the manual primer shut? Start with these tips, if adding or removing fuel does not change the performance, have a technitian check the stator output, if its week, your overall voltage output will be weak and will not burn off all the fuel. [ the manual primer is the little red lever on the port side of the motor. It should be parallel to the primer housing, not perpendicular. Most of the time I hit it when I remove the motor cover.]

Re: What could it be? (rudetech1)
5basslimit, This might sound funny but I had the same problem. What it turned out to be was I had taken on quite a bit of water. I had been leaving my plug in. I didnt know it at the time but my bilge pump was bad so the water just keep building up and when I had someone else in the boat it was just enough weight that it cause that problem you descibed. There again it might not be whats going on with you. But if you havent taken out your drain plug in awhile you might want to do it. I hope this is the problem. Sure is a cheap fix.. Good luck!!

Re: What could it be? (5basslimit)
First, check the compression, then the ignition system for spark on all 6, then check to see if the throttle plates open fully, while holding the throttle open push on the lower two plates to see if they will close. (motor off of course)
As Rudetech posted, check for fuel leaks and also check cylinder head temp.
Have you changed anything like the prop or motor height?

Re: What could it be? (RUSTY63)
Rusty,no,I havent moved the motor at all or changed props.
If it was the compression, would it run right from plane to top end?Boat runs like normal if I can just get on plane.(Partner on deck)
Also,(rudetech) I mix my gas and oil,no VRO.I havent noticed anything different at all........we fished Friday all day, boat ran fine......fired it up Saturday morning, stomped the gas and thats when the bog started.
I gotta get this fixed quick,I do know that.
