    Question Broke water pressure fitting

The fitting on the top of the head that the water pressure gauge connects to broke off yesterday. (Not pretty seeing all that water spraying out the cowling.) Anyone ever had this happen? Looks easy to replace just need to figure out how to get the threaded end out that is still screwed into the block.

I've never had the fitting break, but I have had the nylon hose break right above the fitting that you are talking about. The fitting should be fairly easy to get out since it is brass or at least mine is. You should be able to get an "easy out" tool inside the ID and get it out.

Also, the fitting is metric threads not sae threads. Get the new one from your local Yamaha dealer!!! Most auto parts and hardware stores only carry standard thread fittings.

I went to have a water pressure gage installed on my yamaha and they told me that i had to use a yamaha digital gage ($350.00 if i remember correctly). I spoke with the mechanic and he told me that I could remove the plug from the top of the head and get a 90 deg adapter, problem is that it is hard to find a metric adapter. I am a machinist,so I just made my own. Can you take a picture of the brass adapter? If you can't find one you can have a local machine shop make one or I can make you one if you have a little time (really busy).

You can order a adapter kit from a yamaha dealer or boats.net part #MAR-WPRES-AD-TR, comes with fitting that screws in the head, barbed fitting for hose and gasket for about $12.00. You can use any w/p gauge
