Looking at a ranger 520. It has 225 OX66.. I would rather have the direct injection but he said he got the electronic because it was more dependable... is this so? Also, what is difference in gas mileage?

Back in "03 he might have been right. There were some problems around then with a few of the HPDI's. But I have friends running '03 HPDI's that have purred like a kitten.
OX66 engines are fairly bulletproof as long as you keep up on the maintenance; run a carbon buster, clean the O2 sensor, keep the fuel pumps and filters clean.

+1 on everything he said. I run an OX66 and it's great. About the only complaint is it like the oil and gas....but other than that, I'd buy another one.![]()
OX66 gets roughly 2.0-2.5 MPG at WOT. Other than that,Like the post above says"practically bullet proof"
Same here, I'm happy with my OX66. You just have to keep up on the maintenance, especially keeping the carbon out. I about eliminated my carbon buildup problems when I stopped running Yamalubeand started running Pennzoil synthetic blend.
With Yamalube, I had to fully decarb 2-3 times, change the plugs twice, and clean the O2 sensor 2 or 3 times each year. Now with the Pennzoil, I do all of that stuff once in the spring and that is it. last spring, the O2 sensor and plugs weren't bad at all. I could have left it, but I still did all of the maintenance.
The fuel and oil usage isn't horrible as long as you don't run WOT everywhere.
