NO this is a serious question! I just had my Lower Unit replaced on my 08 250 HPDI and it sounds louder to me. Not the lower unit but the sound coming out of the exaust when its trimed up in the waves not flat water. And it sounds like a hammer banging. Still running great top speed no problem. Maybe i am just paranoid but i dont remember the motor sound like that. Sounds like a hammer

Dont know the exact origin of it, but I know growing up we called Yamaha motorcycles Yamahammers.
I've noticed since I changed my impeller that something sounds a little different.. more hollow or something..
Cause they HAMMER on down the lake past the Rudes' and Mercs!

I always thought it was just slang, like the above post, "Yamahammers" cut short to "Hammers."
