    New E-Tech Idles rough--ideas??

I just got back from the first trip on the water with my new 40 H E-Tec. Everything went well, but my only concern is that when I bring it to the lowest idle point, the tiller handle (and the back half of the boat) vibrates fairly aggressively. If I increase the gas just a bit, it calms down and quiets nicely, but then the speed would be too fast for some trolling. Is this just "as good as it gets" or have you experts found them to be adjustable to a nice smooth run.

    What do you all think?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

You may need to have the idle set. They do have a little vibration, only two cylinders. After they break in for a while things tend to change a bit also. If you use a tiller handle ,you will notice more than the helm guys.

I had called the dealer re: the issue and he stated that they could raise the rpm a bit which might improve the vibration. I didn't ask what the rpm is currently set at. I understand the idle speed can be set somewhere between 600-800? Is that accurate? Do you have suggestions where the level should be set?

    thanks for the followup.

I will check on the model and serial number and post when I am able. I am taking it to the dealer/service center in Grand Rapids where I bought it (Van's) which has an excellent local reputation. I haven't yet brought it back to have them adjust the issue.

Let me guess...would you suggest Lokemans in Detroit? I have read good things about them and would love to have them tinker with it, but the 2 hour drive is a bit of a downer. If I am not satisfied locally, then I will have no problem taking a day for Lokemans to look at it (heck, even might take the wife and kids to do some shopping at Somerset (i.e Bass Pro Shop) and dinner in Greek town!
