I've been hearing that rumor for a few months now but nothing "official" from Yamaha.

The way federal emission requirements are going, the days of the 2 stroke are numbered.

4 strokes are a win win if they could only get the weights down a bit.

I heard that from a dealer the other day. He said they were working on weight and other things with the four strokes to bring them closer to the 2 strokes performance wise and within a few years the two strokes would probably be history

spoke with a guy yesterday that knows for a fact that 2009 is the last year of the 2 stroke. the 2010 4 stroke will be about 50 lbs lighter than the 2 stroke now and told him that in a 250 to look at another 3 to 6 mph too. im wanting to repower with a 225 now and cant make my mind up. 2 or 4 stroke.

All of their two strokes? Some guys over on the saltwater forums are thinking only their carb motors.

But if you're looking to repower with a 225, do like BigsmallieII and now myself and look at the 225 Sport. But if you're a two stroke fan, get an HPDI while you can!

I seriously doubt the HPDI's are going ANYWHERE but on more boat transoms. The Carb motors I could see discontinued because Yamaha is probably running out of its "Emmisions points" to continue selling non-CARB rated outboards.

An extra 3-6 mph out of the "new" 250 4 -Stroke???

Typical sales BS if you ask me...
